Is a wire-rope electric hoist classified as special equipment?
Neither chain hoists nor lever hoists are classified as special equipment; so, does an electric wire-rope hoist qualify as special equipment? To answer this question, let’s first examine the definition of special lifting equipment.
Special lifting machinery refers to electromechanical equipment used for the vertical lifting or for both vertical lifting and horizontal movement of heavy loads. Its scope is defined as follows: lifts with a rated lifting capacity of 0.5 t or more; cranes with a rated lifting capacity of 3 t or more (or tower cranes with a rated lifting moment of 40 t·m or more, or ship-unloading bridges with a production capacity of 300 t/h or more), and with a lifting height of 2 m or more; and mechanical parking equipment with two or more storage levels.
Based on the above definition, we can generally conclude that wire-rope electric hoists are classified as special equipment. In addition, we would like to kindly remind everyone that, due to the unique characteristics of wire-rope electric hoists, they must be operated strictly in accordance with applicable regulations to prevent potential hazards.
